Sudoku Games

Perhaps most of people is familiar with Sudoku game because it is often seen in newspapers and magazines. This challenging combinatorial number-placement puzzle game is increasingly popular, so now it is possible to play Sudoku online. In general, this Japanese game requires logical thinking and exercise and it is considered to be brain activating. The goal is to fulfill a 9×9 grid with digits so that every  row, column and all 3×3 sub-grids contain all the digits from 1 to 9, zero is not used. The puzzle creator sets a partially completed grid and has a unique solution. In 1986 Japanese company Nikoli popularized this puzzle game and named it Sudoku (which means “single number”). Almost 20 years after, in 2005, Sudoku was recognized game all over the world. Playing Sudoku can improve analyzing skills and thinking capabilities. To master the game, abundant innovative thinking is required and therefore playing this game is certainly not a waste of players’ time.

The most common Sudoku version is 9×9 grid with 3×3 sub-grids, but there are some variations. Sudoku can be 5×5 grids with pentomino sub-grids (published as Logi-5), 6×6 grid with 2×3 sub-grids, or even 7×7 grid with six heptomino sub-grids and a disjoint sub-grid. Dodeka Sudoku is 12×12 grid. If this is unimaginable for you, try to imagine Sudoku-zilla, published in 2010 representing 100×100 grid. Wordoku is an alphabetical variation of Sudoku. Unless the letters should spell something, there is no difference between Sudoku and Wordoku. There are very popular and interesting World Sudoku Championships, the first was held in Lucca, Italy in 2006 and Czech Jana Tylová won.
